Fewer crimes in Parañaque
James Catapusan, Manila Bulletin
PARANAQUE’S crime rate went down last year compared to the previous year. Records showed the city’s crime rate fell to 9.64 per cent from 10.19 per cent in 2008.
Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr said the latest figures reflected the gains made by the local police in the fight against crime. “We aim to create an environment where people are confident that they will be protected against criminal elements,” he said. http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/240370/fewer-crimes-para-aque

Python causes power outage
abs-cbnNEWS.com
A 10ft-long python was captured at a tower of the Manila Electric Co (Meralco) in BF Homes Parañaque, on Monday morning.
Rex Gomez, the Meralco team leader in the area, said his men found the “reticulated python” after conducting an inspection of the tower following a power tripping at around 4.30am.
They believe that the python, which was found hanging on a high-tension tower, caused the power failure. The creature was brought to the Wildlife Parks in Quezon City for treatment of the wounds it sustained at the tower. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/12/28/09/python-causes-power-outage-parañaque

Videoke sessions inside ‘gov’t building’
Mercedita Onofre, Philippine Daily Inquirer
I WOULD like to call the attention of Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr and the taxpayers of Parañaque regarding the disrespectful behaviour of employees at a building that is being rented for councilors and other officials of our city. That the city government has to pay so much for the rent of these offices – justifying the expense with the claim that a government building for these officials is still under construction and they need an existing building now so they can “serve” the people of this city – is flabbergasting enough.
